IFSEC International, the world’s most influential gathering for security professionals, has always provided an ideal opportunity to launch new products and the timing of this year’s show could not have been better for Essentra Security and its business partner, Magicard.
Visitors to IFSEC International 2015 were among the first in Europe to see a preview of the new ground-breaking Magicard Helix re-transfer ID card printer with built-in visual security.

Judging by the interest shown by visitors to our stand over the three days of the show, the Helix is likely to be one of the most popular printers that we will supply and support over the coming months.”
The Magicard Helix is the world’s first re-transfer printer which can apply a secure visible watermark to each card during the re-transfer process. Using an evolution of Magicard’s highly acclaimed HoloKote security feature, the Helix is able to exploit the wavelengths and lens effect of the re-transfer film to fluoresce under UV lighting conditions.
Essentra Security also took the opportunity to introduce a number of other new ID solutions recently been launched by other leading card printer manufacturers. The new Datacard SD160 card printer, an extension of the proven SD series is designed to deliver a combination of affordability, security and simplicity. Also, the Evolis Avansia re-transfer printer, targeted at users who require very high quality card printing and is capable of issuing more than 140 single-sided colour cards per hour.
Also on show on the stand were ID card solutions offered by HID and Zebra, as well as new Swiftcolor SCC-2000D SCC-4000D inkjet models which provide the option to print onto both paper and plastic.
2015 is already proving to be a highly successful year for Essentra Security. News that the company has been entrusted to play a key role in the provision of a new generation of smartcard printers throughout the healthcare service, has underlined Essentra Security’s position as Europe’s leading distributor of card printers, systems and accessories. The contract to supply the new card printers was awarded by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC), the national provider of information, data and IT systems for health and social care. The key objective of the contract is to refresh and modernise the existing estate of smartcard printers used for authorising and issuing Smartcards to staff who need to access NHS systems, that require this authentication. Essentra Security is fulfilling the project in partnershipwith prime contractor SCC through the commoditised IT hardware and software (CITHS) framework, and Ultra ID manufacturer of Magicard ID card printers.
Essentra Security and Magicard will also be working together to ensure timely delivery of the Enduro+ custom printers which will be installed across all regional health service establishments throughout England and Wales. The project will modernise the estate of smartcard printers used for authorising and issuing smartcards to staff who need to access National Health Service systems that require authentication.
